The HIDTA program was created by Congress in 1988 to coordinate federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement resources to reduce the availability of illicit drugs and related violence in the US. The HIDTA program consists of 33 regional HIDTAs covering over 600 counties nationally. Over 23,000 federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agents, officers, analysts and support personnel actively support HIDTA initiatives. Click here to learn more about our national efforts.
The National High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Directors Association (NHDA) was formed on February 9, 2005, in order to bring HIDTA Directors’ together in a professional association. The primary purpose of the Association is to address and educate local, state and national leaders as well as the public on issues that affect drug law enforcement. The Association shares information, techniques, policies, training and best practices to enable each individual HIDTA to reach its fullest potential.
