On Thursday, February 6, 2025, members of the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) conducted an operation that resulted in the seizure of an extremely large amount of illegal narcotics, significantly impacting the Mexican Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) operating in the area. Over the last several weeks, the WNTF initiated an investigation that led to the identification of a crystal methamphetamine source of supply operating in Houston, Texas. During the course of the investigation, Task Force Officers were able to locate a “stash house” which was being utilized by the DTO to distribute multi-kilogram amounts of crystal methamphetamine. With the assistance of Texas DPS, DEA and the Harris County Precinct 3 Constables Office, WNTF Task Force Officers ultimately arrested defendant Miguel Angel Chavez – Cerrtino (27) and seized a total of 625 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from their “stash house” in Houston. Chavez – Cerrtino was subsequently charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute crystal methamphetamine by the United States Attorney’s Office.
The Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) covers five counties and is comprised of investigators from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office, and the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
